Travel & Transport

PLAN YOUR TRIP

expand expand

We recommend alternative methods of travel other than driving, including local shuttles, rideshares, MUNI, BART, walking, scooter, and bikes. Parking is not available at the festival grounds and is extremely limited in the surrounding neighborhoods. We do not recommend you drive to the festival. Skip the hassle and try another transportation mode to get to Outside Lands this year!

ENTRANCE GATES

expand expand

You can enter the festival via the Main Gate (on JFK near 30th Ave) or South Gate (on Middle Dr & Metson Rd). If you have VIP or Golden Gate Club tickets, the Main VIP Entrance is on the North side, located on 36th Ave. & JFK Drive.

There is also a VIP Entrance located at Martin Luther King Jr Drive, adjacent to the South Gate, for your convenience.

There is a designated ADA Entrance at 36th Ave & JFK.

DROP OFFS

expand expand

If you’re planning on getting dropped off at Outside Lands, please know that some streets will be congested or closed entirely to traffic. You can expect nearby streets to be especially congested before and after the event. For this reason, we suggest you get dropped off several blocks north or south of the park. We recommend Geary Blvd or Balboa St to the north, or Irving Street to the south.

The SFMTA’s Slow Streets program is designed to limit through traffic on certain residential streets and allow them to be used as a shared space for people traveling by foot and by bicycle. There are several slow streets in the immediate area, which will further impact vehicular traffic.

SHUTTLES

expand expand

Outside Lands is proud to offer a pre-paid shuttle service from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in the heart of San Francisco to the south entrance of Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park. The shuttles are coach-style buses that offer a comfortable ride to and from the festival each day.

Shuttles begin running each day at 11 AM and run continuously all day with limited coverage from 5-8 PM. The last shuttle to the festival leaves Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 8pm. Return shuttles run until one hour after the music ends each night.

BART

expand expand

BART will run service until around midnight on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Plan your specific trip using their Trip Planner.

BART Parking is free after 3 PM on Friday and is free on Saturday and Sunday except for the Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose stations, which are not operated by BART.

To save time and hassle, it is recommended you get a Clipper card in advance with round trip fare loaded. You can add Clipper to your mobile wallet and pay for BART fares with Google Pay and Apple Pay. All riders can immediately load funds through their wallet to their Clipper card.

MUNI

expand expand

Muni is a great way to get to and from Outside Lands. Muni provides multiple lines to Golden Gate Park from all over the city. SFMTA is providing extra service on the 5R Fulton bus (north of Golden Gate Park) and the N-Judah light rail line (south of the park).

Never taken Muni before? Check this quick start guide.

Plan your Muni trip on 511.org or Google Maps. You can check real-time Muni arrival information at Next Bus.

For more information visit SFMTA.com/OutsideLands.

If you experience or witness an incident, help make Muni a safe space for all by reporting it using the Muni Feedback form at SFMTA.com/MuniFeedback, the 311 mobile app or by calling 311.

Non-English speakers should call 311 for language assisted reporting.

BIKE

expand expand

Outside Lands will offer free self-park bicycle parking areas located at the eastern and southern portions of the festival site. Bike parking is available during festival hours.

Need a ride to Outside Lands? Bay Wheels has you covered with a special Bay Wheels station on JFK Drive, just east of Transverse Drive – right near the festival entrance. On site valets will make sure there’s an open dock for you to park when you roll up to the festival, and a bike when you’re ready to head home.

WALK

expand expand

You can enter the festival on foot via the Main Gate (on JFK near 30th Ave) or South Gate (on Middle Dr & Metson Rd).

DRIVE

expand expand

Parking is not available at the festival grounds and is extremely limited in the surrounding neighborhoods. We do not recommend you drive to the festival and recommend you take alternative methods of transportation.

If you must drive, be aware of various parking restrictions in nearby neighborhoods, especially along Fulton, Lincoln, La Playa, and Lower Great Highway. Overnight parking of vehicles taller than 7ft or longer than 12ft any day, street cleaning and 72-hour prohibition violations may result in tickets and towing. Also be cognizant of impinging on driveways and handicap access ramps. The SF Department of Parking and Traffic is on high alert during this period of time.

RIDESHARE

expand expand

Official rideshare pick-up and drop-off locations are:

  • Balboa & 30th Avenue (adjacent to George Washington High School)

  • Irving St. between 25th and 27th Avenue

Requesting your ride to and from these locations will help you avoid any issues.

Friendly reminder: You can schedule rides to and from the event in the Lyft app up to an hour before you need your ride!
